Learning Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of the Theatre Arts degree program requirements, graduates will:
- identify and define significant theatrical techniques, terms and theories that are centerpieces of theatrical performance and production (Techniques, Terminology & Theories).
- differentiate between the various theatrical disciplines and production roles, while applying discipline-specific knowledge and techniques through the creation of theatrical productions (Theatrical Practice)
- know the greater theatrical timeline, from the Ancients to the Present, including the evaluation of current aesthetics, expectations, standards and trends within the 21st century theatrical industry (Theatrical Trends)
- read, discuss and analyze a varied catalog of plays and musicals, written by a diverse representation of playwrights, including (but not limited to) seminal pieces of the theatrical canon, as well as noteworthy contemporary works of the 21st century (Dramatic Literature)
- assess theatre as a civically-engaged, collaborative art form through co-curricular learning experiences (Community Engagement)
- employ problem-solving skills and creative thinking skills through engagement in the collaborative theatrical process and the creation of artistic work (Diagnostic & Creative Thinking Skills)
- apply analytical skills through the critical reading of dramatic literature, the dissection of theatrical concepts and the critical examination of live theatrical productions (Analytical Reading & Writing)
College Requirements:
Successful completion of CUNY Assessment Tests in Reading, Writing, and ACCUPLACER CUNY Assessment Test in Math with passing examination
scores, unless otherwise exempt, or developmental courses may be required. Civic Engagement Experiences:
Two (2) Civic Engagement experiences satisfied by Civic Engagement Certified or Civic Engagement Component courses or approved outside
activity. Writing Intensive Requirement:
One (1) Writing Intensive course in any discipline is required. Participation in a Learning Community that includes ENG 1200 or ENG 2400 also satisfies this requirement.
Required Core (4 Courses, 12 Credits):
When Required Core courses are specified for a category, they are strongly suggested and/or required for the major

Flexible Core (6 Courses, 18 Credits):
