MAT 700 - Principles of Mathematics 3 Credit(s) Hours: 4 hrs. (2 hrs. lecture, 2 hrs. lab)
A basic course in mathematical discovery. Students participate in the development and investigation of topics such as number sequences, calculating devices, extrapolation, mathematical mosaics and curves, probability and topology. Prerequisite(s): (1) Successful completion of the Elementary Algebra portion of the ACCUPLACER CUNY Assessment Test in Math, or (2) A passing score on both the Pre-Algebra and Elementary Algebra portion of the CUNY Mathematics Skills Test (COMPASS), or (3) Successful completion of both the Pre-Algebra and Elementary Algebra CUNY Mathematics remediation, or (4) Math Exemption Required Core: Mathematical and Quantitative Reasoning
