HIS 5900 - Modern U.S. History from 1945 to the Present

This class introduces students to an in-depth analysis of pivotal issues faced by the U.S. since the end of World War II, including postwar economic growth and suburbanization; the 1950s red scare; the emergence of the U.S. as a world super power and U.S. military engagements such as the Vietnam War; the rise of social protest movements around issues of race, gender, and sexuality; and post 1970s crises such as growing economic inequality, climate change, and political polarization.
